How Reiki Heals: Chakra Balancing for Stress Relief, Better Sleep, and Emotional Alignment

When we feel stuck but can’t move past what’s blocking us… when we want to release negative thoughts that are holding us back but don’t know how … when we want to turn off stress and get a restful night’s sleep, but can’t seem to relax at the end of the day… Those times can feel so confusing and frustrating. But I would invite you to consider that these are also times when we can turn to aligning your chakras through Reiki Energy Healing.

Reiki is a simple solution to help you banish stress, manage pain, improve sleep and align your chakras. But what is it exactly? How does it work? And most importantly, can it help you find your balance again… even on tough days?

Where does Reiki come from?

The word itself stands for “universal” (rei) and “life force” (ki). This “universal life force” flows through all living beings, through all of nature, and through the whole Universe, and has been around since the beginning of time. The practice of tapping into this universal life force for healing and to clear stagnant energy has itself existed everywhere on Earth and dates back thousands of years – every culture has ancient stories about healings. But Reiki Energy Healing as a modality and a healing practice with levels of certification was first codified in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui in Japan. And so today, Reiki is regarded as an ancient Japanese healing art and it has blossomed into various lineages, each with its own unique practices and rituals.

How does Reiki Heal?

At its core, Reiki is all about tapping into the universal life force and shifting invisible energies. Think of it as plugging into the cosmic power grid and letting that healing energy flow through you. Here’s something that’s interesting: the practitioner is not actually doing any healing themselves; they merely act as a conduit for that energy. They have been trained to allow Reiki to flow through them from the universal energy field and they channel it to their client, directing it where it’s most needed in order to reestablish balance for the chakras. What is Distance Reiki?

Because Reiki is universal and infinite, it is not defined by time and space. Meaning that Reiki doesn’t have to be experienced only in the present. It can be sent into the future, to smooth out energy for an upcoming event. It can even be sent into the past to heal trauma that happened long ago. Reiki can also transcend physical distance. The Reiki Healer and their client do not need to be in the same room together. Imagine this: you’re in your own home, lying on your bed, your couch or your yoga mat on the floor. You’re chatting with your healer, who lives far away, but is on the phone or on Zoom with you right now. They then channel healing energy and send it to you, directing the flow of energy beyond time and space. Alone in your home, you can sense the healing energy reaching your body, your mind, your emotions, and you suddenly feel peaceful.

What does Reiki feel like?

Everybody’s different and clients often describe a variety of experiences. But typical ones are: they might feel warmth, tingling, the spinning of a particular chakra or simply a deep sense of relaxation, during or after the session. Some might have beautiful visions or see chakra colors in your mind’s eye. Some experience sudden and fascinating insights or revelations. And the best part? It’s completely non-invasive and very soothing.

What Are the Benefits of Reiki?

Scientific studies have shown that Reiki can help reduce stress, manage pain, and improve sleep quality. When you find an experienced healer, they can help you get back into alignment, balance your chakras, connect with Universal flow, embrace a positive mindset and release energy blocks. Of course Reiki is never a substitute for medical treatment; but it can be a beautiful complementary healing modality that works hand in hand with conventional Western medicine.

  • Find a qualified Reiki practitioner – look for credentials and experience.
  • Seek recommendations from friends and family who have had a positive experience.
  • Communicate openly and set clear expectations before your session begins.
