Year End Energy Clearing: 3 Chakra-Based Practices to Welcome the New Year

As we reach the year end, it’s energetically supportive to pause, reflect, and intentionally close out this chapter. When we bring something to completion with clarity and gratitude, we naturally step into the next cycle with brighter, clearer energy. I like to keep my year end rituals simple and stress-free so I can finish this season feeling peaceful, grounded, and optimistic.

Below is my favorite year end practice, with three distinct chakra-based steps. It’ll help you honor your journey, clear what needs releasing, and enter the New Year with a heart full of possibilities. You can read more about the chakra system here.

Step 1: Ground, Center & Celebrate Your Accomplishments

Root • Sacral • Solar Plexus Chakras

  • Begin by gathering anything that gives you a snapshot of your daily life over the last year — your calendar, journals, photos, bank statements, or digital records. Grab a sheet of paper and write out the 12 months of the year.
  • Then take a moment to ground your energy (Root Chakra), connect with universal flow (Sacral Chakra), and activate your power to manifest (Solar Plexus Chakra)
  • Here’s a simple way to do this: First place your palms on your thighs and gently press down, taking three slow breaths as you connect with Earth energy. Then place your hands on your belly, close your eyes, and breathe deeply three more times. Invite in a sense of joy and calm confidence.
  • Now open your eyes and take a look at your calendars, photos, journals, etc… Quickly scan through the days and identify, for each month, 2–3 things you accomplished or moments you feel proud of. They can be big or small, personal or professional. Jot them down. In just a few minutes, you have a list of 24–36 meaningful wins at this year end – successes that remind you just how much you did, grew, and navigated this year.
  • Take a moment to truly feel the pride, satisfaction, and gratitude for yourself.

The energy of celebration + gratitude is powerful manifesting fuel for next year.

Step 2: Forgive Yourself for What Wasn’t Perfect

Heart Chakra

  • As you reviewed your year in Step 1, you may have noticed missed opportunities or moments that didn’t unfold the way you hoped. This is where the Heart Chakra guides us back into compassion.
  • Place your hands on your heart, close your eyes and take three slow, deep breaths. Visualize a soft pink or shimmery green ball of light in the center of your chest — warm, forgiving, and unconditional.
  • As you breathe, allow this light to hold everything that didn’t go perfectly. You did the best you could with what you knew at the time.
  • Let yourself soften. Let the year be complete. Let yourself be human.

Forgiveness creates spaciousness for new blessings to enter.

Step 3: Set One Final Gentle Goal

Third Eye Chakra

  • There’s still a little time left before the year wraps up. Is there one last thing you’d love to complete — something that would feel satisfying to add as the final entry on your list of accomplishments?
  • Bring your palms together in prayer position and place the base of your thumbs at your Third Eye, at the center of your forehead. Close your eyes.
  • Take three deep breaths and visualize a beautiful purple light swirling in a ball of energy. Let an intuitive idea arise, something simple, meaningful, and realistic to complete before December 31st without stress or pressure.
  • When the idea lands, open your eyes and write it on a small piece of paper or type it in your phone – somewhere you’ll see it each day.

Let this be your final loving promise to yourself at this year end — to be completed with ease and softness.

These simple three steps help you complete the year feeling peaceful, energized, and aligned. By working through the Chakra system, you create a beautiful blend of gratitude, celebration, forgiveness, and intuitive clarity that you’ll carry powerfully into the New Year.
